What we are
The Beach Owl is a literary magazine organized by, edited by, and targeted towards teenagers. We encourage creative, off-beat pieces that demonstrate a stylistic personal voice. The first publication will appear in April so please submit your work by June 12th if you would like to be considered for publication. Each piece that is approved for publication is edited by us and sent back to the author for final approval. Please contact us at [email protected] if you have further questions. We look forward to reading your work!

Contents of the Magazine
We accept submissions from anyone between the ages of thirteen and nineteen. Submissions can be short stories, poems, pieces of art, and excerpts from scripts, screenplays and novels. They should be no more than 5 pages single-spaced. We will accept no more than three submissions from one person per issue of magazine. We are looking for individuality, creativity, personal voice, a strong understanding of writing mechanics, and a unique style. Publications will appear three times annually.
The Cover Art
The cover page of each issue of The Beach Owl will feature the art work of a high school student. We are looking for a creative piece that incorporates both the beach and an owl. If you have another piece of art that does not fit this description, you can submit it for publication within the magazine. Please feel free to explore interesting interpretations of the required cover page subject matter (an owl and a beach). For more information on sending your art work please see the Submissions page of the website. We look foreword to seeing your work!
